Vox casting
Big production news today is that we are announcing the voice actors for the movie. We’re delighted that such a great cast, with so much talent, is on board. Together they bring the highest calibre of performance to ULTRAMARINES, and we’re very excited that their voices - and facial expressions - will be part of making these Space Marines come to life.
You can read the announcement in the News section of the website, and see the actors talking about being a part of the movie in this clip.

i cannot fucking w8 for this movie to come out i would kill to see it literally im hoping its gonna be good the cast is to bad im hoping they dont drop it down to a M rating or it wont be 40k and i wish they could work Liam Neeson into the movie :(
PS there better be Imperial Guard in it prefrebly Catachans :D
movie
Being a real life soildier who as fought on the front line in afghanistan and a massive 40k fan bring on the daemon hunters iv seen the realities of war i hope they make this film as realistic and as gory as possible at the end of the day the film is based in a very sick galexy fighting the viliest creatures known to the emperium when playing i cant help but imagine my grey knights blowing chaos back through the warp with a heavy bolter smashing 50 rounds through their skulls i just hope they keep it as gory as possible as seeing the 40k universe on the big screen is a dream come true!!! cant wait...
i just think we fans should be happy
Ive read almost every horus heresy book, most of the omnibus's, hero's of the space marines, the iron snakes, all of gaunts ghosts, and verious imperial gaurd and chaos novels... yes i most definently call myself a hardcore fan because when i start talking about WH40K i just cant stop unless you slap me. ive been playing since i was 8, with the blood angels and the ultramarines, and though i could sit here and critisise every little thing these people are doing with the movie, i wont.
Because honestly, im just excited that theyre making a movie at all.
I really hope they put enough grit, gore, and darkness in it.
But honestly, Dan abnett is writing the script, so at the very least we will have another good story to admire.
I just think we fans should be happy, that we finally get to see a giant space marine killing something on the screen.
(P.S- i think theyre doin it about the ultramarines because its the most mainstream chapter, theres no wierd rituals or strange things happening within this chapter, which will make it far more accesible to people who havent a clue what WH40K is)
Flaming
I would say I'm surprised to see people taking this movie down but the internet is a violent place. The primary concern is of the expected rating for the film. Even if it is not R rated it will still hold all that makes wh40k. The script is being done by Dan Abnett, writer of Gaunts Ghosts and co-writer of The Horus Heresy, so we can expect it to remain true to this universe. The not-most-restricted rating is due to a lack of thigs. For example, how many sex scenes are in the games/books, what nudity is there besides some breast shots form demons and battle sisters? The only morbid torturing comes from dark eldar. We can still expect some good fighting and and to see some marines go down, we just won't have any reduced to ground chuck and splatter the camera. Gore can make a movie (ask an avid Hostile fan); but scenery, acting, and scripting make a film.
my only concern...
my only concern is that they make space marines too good
if they have chaos in this film - for it to be realistic then for every 1 chaos marine death 1 space marine should die aswell - unless its a main character but even then they shouldnt be able to butcher people nearly as good as them - this is what seems to happen in a few of the black library publications and i was just worried that they would ruin the film by making the ultramarines too good
Battle Sisters
Allthough all you male types out their. are looking forward to the movie. so are some of us female types. i have been playing from the start. and am still an avid fan, even though i am now in my latter years.
I would like for their to be some involvement from the Battle Sisters. as they are an integrial part of Warhammer 40k now.
It is the role i take in battle on the game board.
However having said all this i look forward to the film with great anticipation. at last well done.
One final comment do not forget some of us females like the game, as well. it is not only for Men!!!
I'm sure everyone would like
I'm sure everyone would like to see their personal armies represented in the movie. I don't think everyone will be satisfied in that, however.
Awesome
So the main thing that will make or break it for me is the graphic violence.
The universe of 40K is a grimdark, terrible place, and I reckon the movie will be ruined with anything less than an R16-18 tag on it.
You 12 year old SMurf players (yes I know the film is about ultramarines) can wait a bit and watch the real thing, rather than forcing everyone to see a version that isn't in line with the true grittyness of 40K.
The movie will be ruined
I would agree with you the whole thing about warhammer is that there is nothing
but war, the movie will probably not display the gothic views of the 40K world.
For The Emperor!
I agree with most of you, this movie must have an age rating of at least 16+ to do the combat scenes any credit!
And guys im nopromoter but this website: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Main_Page , is a WH40K Wikipedia!!! Purge All Xeno Threats!
Enemy
i reckon the enemy is going to be tyranids-because its ultramarines. you may think : why tyranids just because its ultramarines?
but i am certain it is tyranids for one very big reason: THE BATTLE FOR MAGRAGGE
If this is really "for the
If this is really "for the fans" why the hell is it about Ultramarines?
If you were a fan, you'd
If you were a fan, you'd know.
well, he´s kinda right. Of
well, he´s kinda right. Of course it had to be about Space Marines, standard humies woudl be boring, and aliens too...alien for the first movie, but why the hell the least-character most boring chapter?
Standard guard aren't exactly
Standard guard aren't exactly thrilling, but you need them just to see how freaking awesome the marines are in comparison.
Will the film be as violent
Will the film be as violent as the intro to DoW? I certainly hope so.
Waaahhhggg!!!!!!
My God!!!! This will be EPIC!!! I've been waiting for a WH40K for so long. I always thought to myself, "what are they waiting for?", and now I realize that technology was the final component. The amazing cast will give that additional formal and solemn tone to make the movie what WH40K is all about.
My only concerns\doubts are:
1) Will they make it "R"? - Violence is an essential part of WH40K as IMHO, WH40K depicts the insanity of war and that fanatical determination from each faction (Space marines, Eldar, Chaos, etc) to win alone. There is no "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" in WH40K.
2) Will they explore\analize the obsessive devotion to the Emperor; the honorable melee combat, ...? That is in part, IMHO, a big part of the mithos.
3) Will they explore the mentality of the "hundreds of years old" war veterans, and how\why they are who they are? That would be awesome to see the movie explore psychological facets.
Good Lord!! Sorry I am getting so nerdy, but I am really excited and happy about this!!!
Yay
It's only a pity that this isn't a Imperial Guard movie, Sean Pertwee would be so awesome as a Imperial Guard Vet Sergeant.
have to agree with you there
have to agree with you there since he played an outstand role in Dod Soldiers! I think he might even be good as Guant! That would be amazing!
I Just Sharted
I Just Sharted
Droolage
Drool....drool...and sorry that bit landed on your foot.
I can't believe you've got these guys! this is awesomosaurus!
Exciting Stuff
Really and truely exciting stuff here! Can not wait for this, and the announcement of actors is brilliant! What a cast.
Im notcing that they all have Space Marine names. So could this mean 1) More actors to be announced ie Enemies 2) Some of these names are for Traitor Marines or 3) The enemy is something that doesnt need voices like Tyranids (Please be Tyranids), Necrons, Daemons?
So many possibiliteis! So eh.....hurry up and release more stuff for us unworthy people :P
Seriously though, it looks like its coming together well guys! Best of luck! Im keeping my eye on this almost everyday!
Till next time :)
Awesome
All I can say is... YES!!!!
saweet
really exciting to see this thing take shape. Great work so far cant wait to see the finished product!
Sweet
Well...
Two of them I recognize...Chancellor Valorum and Mr. Ollivander. The voices mesh even while listening to these interviews, great selection, and I look forward to the next piece you release.
i sincerely hope with all my
i sincerely hope with all my heart this movie makes the big screen.. ive been waiting all my life for a 40k movie to come to life. i was even going to be a film major just so i could do it!
Excellent cast
First off, great cast so far for the Ultramarines movie. Really amazing to see some great veteran actors like Terence Stamp, Sean Pertwee, and John Hurt involved in this film.
One thing I'd like to point out is how the cast is a little too "vanilla" if you catch my meaning. Personally, I think we should throw in some differing accents. After all, just like humans all across the rest of the Imperium, Space Marines - especially the Ultramarines whom draw recruits from multiple star systems - come in all different shades. Off the top of my head, I'd say the Phil Lamar is a very capable voice actor. Keith David's voice also comes to mind as very distinctive as well.
Ultramarini from Russia
I beg to make a film in 3D(like AVATAR) and SHOW IT IN CINEMAS.
Then your film will be watched by people who don't know anything about warhammer 40000.
-.-
Avatar was all looks no story.. And if they make it go to cinemas. they'll have to explain everything. Which even after nearly 4 years i don't even know all of it. So yeah
we don't want too many of
we don't want too many of those in, do we?
FANTASTIC
Dan Abnett writing, and a cast like this...
Words fail me, this is fantastic news.
No pressure guys!
WoW!
Looks like an amazing cast... you've done a great job getting some great actors!
This is getting better and better by the update.
Sean!
Wasn't Sean Pertwee in Fire Warrior?!
Sean Pertwee
Yes
Wow I´m really looking
Wow
I´m really looking forward to this!
Really really really good cast.
Excited :D
Fantastic Start
We live in great times...A W40k Movie Finally with a fantastic cast!
You have me chomping at the bits!
What a coup
John Hurt wow thats fantastic, what an amazing selection of underused brilliant british actors you've managed to pull together. This promises to be something special now.
Agreed.
I totally agree. I'm anything but a film buff but I'm impressed with the cast they've pulled together.
It's very interesting that even the actors state that it's being made for the fans. This really excites me. Don't try and vomit all of 40k out in one film. Making some assumptions about who will be watching the film, and writing a story and script around that will definitely please the target audience and ultimately produce a better film.
Brilliant.
When's this movie out again?.... :)
year?
that what i want 2 know 2 :)
vox casting : sweet
well now , you ppl are not fucking around on this .... (I knew you weren't in the first place) .. but WOW ! ! ! ! !
I closed my eyes to see the actors and their possible characters they would play, yep .. i could see it ..
Damn nice ..
AWESOME!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!!
Hey-Hey-Hey...!
Watch your language, there are kids here! LOL :P
Excellent
Really and truely excellent cast. Glad that they are all british, as I think an american accent for any Marine would just sound strange! More Knightly :P Excellent news!
Accent
Maby an american accent for a Librarian, or Techmarine to give that "Apart from" Feel. But that would be the only real reason.
Then again...Jack Nicholson as Chief Librarian Tigurius...
Now I can't get that thought out of my head.
OMG!!!!
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I cant wait for the movie to come out, i hope it isnt going to be rated R, just PG13. lol I want to see it right away!!!!! NOW!!
Awesome cast so far
That looks like an awesome cast!
I notice it's all about Ultramarines though. I don't suppose you're hiding Ron Perlman playing a Chaos lord? :D
Chaos
I reckon give James Earl Jones another go at being an evil overlord; a choas sorcerer or similar.
Yes awesome cast - just hope some of the northern english accents dont come out as Imperial Guard from the computer games - 'awright guvnah!'
Seriously though, well done Production on cast selection. Keep the Yanks out of the lead roles!
Great Cast!
This cast = Win! Can't we squeeze Ray Winstone in there as well?
Wow.... General ZOD!
"Warhammer is a good thing"
John Hurt said so. This cast is really exciting!
A good start just got even better
When actors of these guys level of experience are excited about the script it gives the whole project (even more) credibility. Pressure's on the CGI guys now:)
